Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to common questions about Brightenity and our approach to in-home care.
What is the new Support at Home Program?
Support at Home is the new government-funded aged care system that started on 1 November 2025, replacing the Home Care Packages and Short-Term Restorative Care programs. It simplifies access to care and provides flexible funding based on individual needs.
Am I eligible for Support at Home program?
Generally, Australians aged 65 and over (or 50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) may be eligible for government-subsidised home care. Eligibility is determined through an assessment arranged by My Aged Care. Click here Am I eligible for an assessment? | My Aged Care
Can I receive services if I don’t have government funding?
Yes. We offer private support at home for those who don’t yet have government funding or prefer to arrange services directly. This allows you to start care immediately while waiting for funding approval.
Can I choose my support workers?
Absolutely. We value your choice and comfort. We’ll match you with support workers who best fit your preferences, routine, and care needs. You can also request changes at any time if you’d prefer a different team member
What does aged care nursing involve at home?
Our qualified nurses provide professional care in the comfort of your home, helping you feel safe, supported, and at ease. They assist with wound management, medication administration, continence care, and health monitoring such as blood pressure and oxygen levels. Our nursing team also conducts health assessments and reviews, offering expert support for recovery after illness, surgery, or injury, helping you regain confidence and independence at home.
